1. Laboratory tests are currently being conducted at the University of Liège. The objective is to evaluate and quantify the positive effect of certain measures to reduce overheating and summer thermal discomfort. The methodology is as follows. Our laboratory consists of a climate chamber and a buffer space. In the buffer space, located around the climate chamber, we reproduce a heat wave. Inside the climate chamber, we then evaluate overheating and thermal comfort using a thermal mannequin and numerous sensors measuring temperature, humidity, air velocity, etc.

Third ADAPT Project Meeting

On April 1st, 2025, the partners of the Interreg-GR project ADAPT came together in Nancy, France, for their semiannual project meeting. Hosted by Université de Lorraine, the event brought together representatives from all partner institutions across the Greater Region (France, Germany, Belgium, and Luxembourg).

The meeting was an important opportunity to review project progress, exchange updates on administrative and technical work, and coordinate upcoming activities.

Regular in-person meetings like this one are essential to maintaining strong cross-border collaboration and ensuring the successful implementation of ADAPT's goals in the field of climate change mitigation and adaptation in the built environment.

We thank Université de Lorraine for the warm hospitality and all partners for the productive discussions and continued commitment to the success of the ADAPT project.

ADAPT Projekt - Kick-Off Meeting

The Kick-Off Meeting was held at DFKI, which served as the meeting point for the project partners.

On April 18th and 19th, the RPTU ADAPT project team, consisting of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Sabine Hoffmann, Dr. Katharina Boudier, and Dr. Mônica Martins Pinto, welcomed the project partners to the project’s Kick-Off Meeting. The event took place at DFKI, where the Living Lab Smart Office Space is located. ADAPT is a joint project of the Interreg Greater Region, involving institutions from Belgium, Germany, France, and Luxembourg. The project aims to promote adaptation to climate change by focusing on mitigation and adaptation strategies for overheating and heat stress in buildings where vulnerable populations live. This includes monitoring relevant parameters for indoor thermal comfort as well as training and raising awareness about the risks and proper behavior during heatwaves. ADAPT has seven financial partners and 15 strategic partners from across the Greater Region. Representatives from partner institutions attended the Kick-Off Meeting, mostly in person but also online. During the event, an overview of the project was provided, each partner introduced themselves, and general project topics were discussed. Additionally, the next milestones for each work package were set. On the last afternoon, a workshop was held on assembling the CoMoS stations (Comfort Monitoring Stations).
